Many Africans, particularly Nigerians, come to India to pursue higher education or business opportunities. Some arrive illegally, taking advantage of existing visa regulations. Unfortunately, this has contributed to a negative perception of them among Indians, as some individuals have been involved in activities such as drug trafficking, drug abuse, phishing, and prostitution.
It's important to note that Indians across the country generally display a tolerance towards migrants. However, India is a complex society, and the experience of Africans, especially those with darker skin, is often influenced by a widespread societal preference for lighter skin tones. This bias associates darker skin with lower social status, negatively impacting genuine students from Africa who come to India for their studies.
The protagonist of the film, Robin Seseko, becomes aware of the evolving relationships between the Nigerian community and the local Indian population. He is determined to address the misunderstandings. This book examines themes of social engineering while delving into the social, economic, and cultural dynamics of both countries in the contemporary context and landscape.
